Receptive. Responsive. Ripe. Ready
Receptive. Responsive. Ripe. Ready…Just a few words that spring to mind when considering the great harvest of souls taking place right now, in Southern Africa. Every day, new people make the decision to cross the line of faith and begin their journey with Jesus. It’s exciting…and it’s sobering.
The idea of delivering a new baby and then putting the helpless infant out into the elements to survive on its own, would be unthinkable. So often, baby Christians do not receive the training they need to become strong, mature disciples of Christ. In the great commission, “Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” The command is to make disciples and as we do, Jesus promises to be with us always.
Making disciples in every age and stage of life is our top priority in Southern Africa. As we reach out to children, young adults, urban tribes, pastors, church leaders, national leaders, and the unreached – our ultimate goal is to see disciples mobilized throughout Southern Africa.
Developing leaders who are ready, willing and able to carry the gospel forward is crucial to the success of our mission. Abraham Lincoln said, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree – and I will spend the first four hours sharpening my axe.” As leaders develop and grow, their tools (axes) grow sharper and sharper. As leaders grow closer to the heart of Jesus and in community, they sharpen one another. As leaders push back darkness and move forward in the power of the Holy Spirit, He abides in them and they bear fruit (disciples and churches) that remain.
Leadership development training centers in Southern Africa will focus on church planting, discipleship, children’s ministries, and urban missions. There’s a place for you to serve in Southern Africa.
AGWM Southern Africa desires to develop: servant leaders, healthy teams, transformed disciples and thriving Assembly of God churches - all for the cause of Christ.
